The nose is located in the middle of the face and most distinctive organ when looking at face. In rhinoplasty, problems that prevent breathing such as deformities in the nose and deviation are tried to avoided. Simultaneous procedures for two different targets can be performed in rhinoplasties.
One of these goals is to restore the deviation on the nose to provide breathing and allow to physiological functions, removal of bone, cartilage or concha obstruction which prevent breathing. The second goal is to create a nose shape that is suitable for the face structure of the patient.

Although I prefer open surgery technique in rhinoplasty, it is frequently used in closed rhinoplasty method in appropriate patients. I perform bone forming procedures now with ultrasonic rhinoplasty technique which we previously perform with the help of the hammer, chisel and rasp. I prefer to perform my rhinoplasty operations under general anesthesia. Hospitalization of our patients for one night is very important in terms of providing good care after surgery as well as patient safety. I prefer to remove the splints and tampons from the patient in 7th day but this situation differs from patient to patient.

It is recommended that teens desiring cosmetic and functional nasal surgery wait until they have gone through puberty. Three types of tissues are shaped during rhinoplasty; nasal bones, nasal cartilage, and nasal skin. After a rhinoplasty surgery, a thermoplastic splint is applied if nasal bone structure is reshaped. The purpose of using a splint is to support proper recovery of the nasal bones. Also, if a crooked nose is fixed, a silicone tamponade is placed. The tamponade helps both protect the nose and prevent bleeding. Only when a nose tip-plasty is performed, there might be no need neither for a splint nor for a tamponade.

Yes, it is more difficult for a patient to have a nose job for the second time. This is because the nose might have left sticking during the recovery process of the first surgery. Especially in the first surgery, the cartilage may be highly damaged. In such cases, ear cartilage or rib cartilage is picked in order to reshape the nasal cartilage.
In case of a broken nose, a rhinoplasty surgery is performed one year after it is broken. In one year, it is expected that swelling goes down and the recovery process is completed.
It depends on the trauma intensity. If the nose is highly damaged and the nose cartilage cannot be used, it is required to harvest cartilage from ears or ribs. However, in most broken nose cases, it is not necessarily required to perform rhinoplasty by picking cartilage.
Simulations are significant in terms of measuring and estimating whether the patient’s and the doctor’s preferences match. However, the simulation would not indicate the actual surgery result 100% correctly.
